Power naps do work for me, sometimes even just pulling over and relaxing with my eyes closed for 10 mins (not actually sleeping) gives me a fresh burst. I always take a bit of extra time to find a quiet backroad where there's almost nil traffic.
The OP wasn't talking about power napping though, rather a shift in your sleep cycle so that your brain becomes used to shorter sleeps with more overall waking time in 24 hours. Sounds great but how do you live in the real world when you're feeling tired 3 hours after you nap, and need to sleep after 4? You'd have a hard time having a social life, or interacting with family... let alone trying to do a 9-5 job!
