Societal change is much different than the decisions our Gov't makes. Sadly, I don't think musicians ever change the way our Gov't operates. Can you really name one thing that a Gov't has done in direct reaction to what a musician said in a song? Or even publicly? Our troops pulled out of Vietnam because of public outrage. Did the songs help with the public outcry? Maybe very slightly. But it was Congress who eventually made the vote not to continue the necessary funding for the war.
