I'm not a TGP master, but I was doing some research on this earlier for a different project. I visited as many TGPs as I could and checked out their thumb size.
Right now I would say I'm seeing mostly 175-200px. "Most Productive" probably depends on the traffic. If a lot of your surfers are running 1024x768 they most likely aren’t going to like anything bigger than that.
