1) no one takes that more seriously than Obama. He's running his campaign as if he's 4-6 points behind.
2) Robo-calls are amongst the least effective forms of campaigning. They are also the cheapest. McCain lost in the primaries in '00 partially because of robo-calls and push-polling(mccain had an illegitimate black daughter). He's since hired the same people that fucked him to do the same against Obama.
The other night, whether on TDS or TCR they had a republican operative on who went to jail for some of the tactics he helped use on who explained just how down and dirty the campaigns get. It's disgusting even to the point where they (the repubs) hired off duty police officers to wear armbands saying they were there to police black guys on warrants that may or may not exist to discourage black voters from voting. It's amazing what they(republicans) are willing to do to suppress the vote. Of course that wasn't actually their role, its just an example.
Recently, as has happened in all election cycles for the past, god knows how long, republicans have sent out, posted flyers, etc; informing democrats to vote on November 5th.
I really have no idea how people like Rove or others live with themselves aside from being sociopaths who are willing to do whatever they need to in order to win.
