I just think without competition, human innovation slows. It doesn't stop, due to curiosity, but it slows. A micro-world example would be a "coder" thread on this board:

1.
if($she == 'hot')
{
$str = 'Must have a penis';
print $str;
}

2.
if($she == 'hot')
{
print ( 'Must have a penis' );
}

3.
print ( $she == 'hot' ? 'Must have a penis' : '' );

4.
