And the point of strict gun laws is to make it virtually impossible for irresponsible people to get their hands on guns.
Hell, even here in The Netherlands, people can legally own guns. But they'll have to spend a year getting the license (which includes joining a shooting club for courses and such), and if there's any indication whatsoever that they might not be responsible weapon owners, they still won't get a license.
