They used to have those levers you had to push in in order to engage the valve. Not sure what happened to those.

you are that slow?

on the net billing lighter (bic)
the metal spring tab that wraps around the center of the thumbwheel
that is a safety

before that they had a plastic piece that had to be released in order to depress the valve

the metal tab is the new version a couple years old

the metal spring requires more pressure to spin the wheel

the thumbwheel is spring loaded and has to be pressed down a ways in order to make contact with the flint
