A hardware issue should NOT fall under "unmanaged", as it's not a client fault if their hardware is broken. On the other hand, unmanaged is what it is. You do your OWN backups, management, etc.
Sorry mike-al. If you have all those years of experience, you should know about backups. If you did a backup, you could have had a new HD installed with your data reinstalled in under 30min.
