pretty doesn't = sales/conversions
that is a fact. "pretty" typically causes more people to click around more, but has little to do with actual conversions and more often than not, can hurt conversions because its drawing eyes/attention away from the very thing you're trying to get the user to look at. its all about what the user is looking for and whether or not you're showing it to him.
