Canada is in a unique position where they can hold onto that philosophy and mantra for now while many others cannot. Russia can't, China can't, India can't, Europe can't, obviously the United States can't... Canada has a lot of friends and its most important friend has arguably the best military in the world. Canada is too valuable to the United States to let someone else attack and take control of it.
