Page 214 of the Canon 5D Mark II manual specifically states:

"Continuous movie shooting time: Full HD approx. 12 min. SD approx. 24 min.

*Based on Canon's testing standards using a 4GB card."

I just stuck an 8GB 300X Lexar card in and tested it myself and I'll be God damned if it didn't stop and buffer right around the 12 minute mark. Then I decided to call Canon and ask them. I ended up speaking with a 5D Mark II specialist who confirmed that the camera does in fact have that limitation.

On another note if you can afford to buy your own 5D Mark II then maybe you should consider paying off some of the people you owe money/equipment to. Or did you "borrow" that camera too?
