Don't forget the greed factor, which is why many people lost their entire investment savings. Why diversify to protect your investments when you could be earning a percent or two more by parking it ALL with Madoff? No problems. :D
I feel sorry that people have lost everything, but anyone with an ounce of common sense could see that it was ultimately a high risk investment......
