If pushing on the screen makes it work like you say, it could just be a loose connector. Since it's fried anyway, crack it open and look for the tiny flat ribbon cable coming from the screen to the main laptop. I bet it wiggled out a little bit.

edit: when I say crack it open, I mean carefully disassemble it.
