east coast... hmmm... good question.
do you like hot girls and getting laid?... go to the jersey shore prior to labor day.
after that... I would just drive west and take 80... not 70. After the golden arches just go camping at every spot you have ever heard of and make sure to hit all hot springs... and bring a tent... and a girl, or guy. Do not stop till you hit the border of BC and you will have made a good trip ;)
To answer your question... East coast after labor day... maybe just hit AC if you don't have much time
