He pleaded guilty to a few of the things he had done to me and to a battery charge and he got off with a short sentence and probation. They decided to go this route because he already had one conviction for assault and at the time he stole my identity he had a warrant for domestic violence. So with two violent convictions he has two strikes. One more and he goes to jail for at least 25 years.
It all sounded good to me, but then a few of the creditors that he had opened up accounts with still demanded their money. There was no security camera footage proving he was the guy that opened the account and with no conviction they decided to come after me for the money owed. I eventually got it all straightened out, but it cost me about 3K in legal fees and a hours and hours of headaches.
