This is part of the problem most black guys think that all white people are racist or had slaves back in the day. I am white and my great grandparents came here (NYC) like 1910 from Italy...poor and forced to take hard labor and sweat shop jobs. So we were not involved in US slavery.
As far as 40 years ago in NYC...if you did enter a neighborhood weather it was all black, spanish, or white...you would get fucked up. Why, people were not educated and did not understand about getting to know poeple past the color of their skin. In Italy even now you never walk around in towns your not from....so the same mentality came to the States. If you walked in an Italian neighborhood someone would stop you and ask you what your doing here...or just chase you the hell out.
Nowadays it is less about your race, but more about your status. People who are successful do not want to live near poor, disrespectful, or criminal people. I live in an area that is mostly spanish...I live on the 2nd floor....under me is dominican....above me mexican...and they love to blast the music all hours. My wife is Japanese and used to a more quiet type of living....so we will be moving to a better area in the future. Living in the Bronx 42 years and playing Handball thoughout NYC has taught me a lot about all different types of people....and white people can suck too.
Going forward it is all about the upbringing of your kids, teach your kids not to be bias for the wrong reasons.
