It has been proven that without constant professional training, your ability to use the gun in a high stress situation is severely diminished - often to the point where you might as well not even have the gun. This has been proven using police officers as test subjects.

This also explains why gang members have such bad marksmanship when shooting at each other, even at close distances.

The fact is, if someone robbing you is armed and you pull a gun, that 100% guarantees that shots will be fired between the two of you and who knows what happens keeping in mind the above. Whereas if you just give up your wallet, the chances of him shooting are very slim.
