The longer they're not aware, the better, because it makes it easier to combat them.
We're now beta-testing some new anti-piracy tools and launched several coordinated DMCA attacks recently to blow several 300 pagers at one of the biggest illegal sharing boards out there. The psi-effect of that was devastating, but strangely they blamed it all on rapidshare and their new policies - despite there were links to many other file hosters, they still prefer to blame it all on rapidshare because they do not realize that times have changed and several producers can coordinate and send 50 targeted DMCAs in one day.
Damn, one of those 300 pagers was started back in 2006 and looked like a damn paysite by 2010 - all posts indexed, quality navigation added, descriptions and reviews of all sets added, all links checked and the dead ones replaced, they even had guide posts as to where to find the best stuff etc. And it went down in smokes in just one day. Now THAT hurts, you can tell that from their comments following the "holocaust" day - several posters admitted they're going to take a break at least for awhile, several others seem to be going to quit uploading at all because of the frustration they feel. But they still blame it all on rapidshare, which is very important and good for us, the longer ambush factor lasts, the better.
