The beauty of it is, is that this animal will - after a reletively short period of time - unconditionally love and trust her future caregiver.
My Border Collie / Sheppard mix is terrified of stairs, of cars, of the bathroom, and of water. He was horribly abused and mutilated (not his legs, though) when we got him from the rescue. My quality of life is so much better because he is in it. I've had dogs for over forty years, and this boy is irreplaceable.
Reading about abuse like this is heartbreaking. I'm a gonna go wrestle my dog now...
