I'm a former US Marine. We used to have large scale war games that were pretty realistic. And when we were captured, we were considered POWs - and treated as such. This meant kneeling for hours at a time, sack over our heads, hands tied behind our backs. Our jobs as Marines were to escape, and their job was to keep us down. As a POW, if we so much as moved, we got a boot to our spine or a rifle into our stomachs. This is how we trained during peacetime.
