6 years later I still feel the same about this --- I just don't care what people want to call it. Soccer, football, whatever. Why let what other people say drive you crazy? To me it's SOCCER. When I was a kid and signed up for this sport the signup sheet said "SOCCER TRYOUTS". If it had said "football" it would have been an entirely different sport and I'd have had to spend a shitload of money for all the equipment necessary to play it.
But if I'm talking to people from EU, UK, etc, I'll refer to it as football. I don't see why the need for any hangups about it. Who cares?
I do know I'm very much looking forward to the FIFA world cup. Not sure which country I'll be rooting for this go-round, but I'm pretty sure Canada won't be in it. lol
