I think that you end up using more energy heating the water and letting it cool and then reheating it rather than keeping it warm.

I may be wrong, but water takes a lot of energy to heat and not much to keep hot.

Think of a boiling pot of water, you have to put your range on high and wait a few minutes for it to heat, but you can keep a giant pot at a boil by covering the pot and keeping the burner on low.
