We domainers probably have accounts all over the place, so moving .us domains to the cheapest registrar isn't a big deal.
For everybody else, I'm willing to bet they have an account at either namecheap or moniker, and $8.81/$7.29 is much better than 19.99 or 9.99 after jumping through the coupon hunt and bulk register hoops.
