Out with the old, in with the new. If he were a legitimate politician looking out for the good of the people, I'd be fine with him serving/living 238478374687668234 years but something tells me that's not true.
His true feelings about black people etc. since his youth may well only be known to him. Just because he says something doesn't mean he's not simply saying it to keep getting votes and be politically correct. That's not to say it's BAD to make his apologies etc. - it's a good thing, but given his past, who knows if he really legitimately lost his hatred of black people or simply quelled it when seeing the moneybags of political office.
