Windsor's two biggest downfalls to me are:
1. The lack of good paying jobs with the auto industry being down, but jobs are coming back slowly.
2. Property taxes are crazy high as compared to out west.

That said, I moved here at the end of 07 and love it. Tons of things to do in the area with good restaurants, especially on Erie St. In the summer there is usually a festival going on downtown on the riverfront every weekend.

The winter weather is pretty mild for Canada with the exception of Vancouver/Victoria. Summers get humid though.

Being close to Detroit is a bonus for sure. Like Glen said there is so much to do in downtown Detroit from hockey, football and baseball, to the museums etc. And depending on the border I can be at Detroit Metro Airport in less than 30 minutes.

I also like to be able to drive to major cities for weekend getaways. In about 4 1/2 hours or less you can get to Chicago, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Toronto etc.

That said, Windsor is an AMERICAN city through and through. It may be in Canada, but it has a distinct American city vibe and feel. I knew immediately why Canadians give Windsor a bad rap when I got here.
