Typos are a little different that an actual brand domains in a new tld. Every company I have ever consulted for (I had to convince a few) had an unwritten rule that if the cost was under $1500 and the deal was done thru escrow they would buy up branded domains.
Most of my typos get C&Ds as well that is a whole other ball game. I guess the budget doesn't exist for typos like it does for branded domains.
