I agree with Robbie and Fuze, when I have been at shows actively seeking business/deals/affiliates (years in the past), I never had "meetings". They weren't needed, the majority of your time you are going to be stuck having someone try to "sell you" on some BS and take an hour or two of your time, to relay something they could have said in 5 minutes. The end result is the same, 95% of the time, people don't follow-through anyways.
I remember at one point, I think 9 of our top 10 affiliates were people I brought in, even though I wasn't even a rep, who I met very late night, drinking heavily. Hanging out, without the salesperson bullshit, is always better than a sales pitch IMO in forming business relationships.
Are you more likely to remember the guy saying:
"Hey, we met at the show, I was the guy trying to sell you my awesome feeds, you said you'd take a look"
OR
"Man, wasn't that night awesome getting thrown out of that bar and escaping from the police on a stolen golf cart!?"
So, to those who say you need to be well-dressed, carrying around a notepad and have your iPhone loaded with appointments or you aren't doing business at a show, you may want to re-think that strategy.
