The thing I don't understand is how did he get the first 1,2,3,4,5 people using the site? How did he get people to find out about it and how did he get people to then decide to broadcast their cam. Who wants to turn their cam on, on a site that has no one else on it? How did he get past that hurdle to get the snow ball running. Once thousands of people know about it and are using it then it will grow legs and take off on it's own. Anyone could have done the programming for a site like that to start it, but how in the hell did a kid ( I am assuming with no budget to buy tons of traffic) get those first couple people to the site and then get them to turn their cams on when no one else was there????

Good questions, I don't think he did any marketing, it was just one of those instances where viral word of mouth took over and it steamrolled hard last Dec and Jan once the url got out in the press. I saw it in tons of online articles and tv. The site was easy to duplicate and a few of the scripts out there are better than what's on the site. The only other similar site with significant traffic seems to be shufflepeople.com, but he's seems almost as clueless on how to effectively monetize the traffic.
