what this guy lacked was love. he was addicted to relationship and when his wife died he desperately needed a shoulder to cry on, someone to feel his pain. and the scammers sure provided the shoulder for at least as long as the money was coming. that was some expensive service. what he actually needed was a therapy, but none of the family members saw that or understood his problems. and many of you don't see it either, so when it comes to people around you, maybe your parents or loved ones you may not be able to recognize signs of non-chemical addiction that can lean people do to crazy stuff. it's classic. pretty common.
