The mistake many make is the "I can't imagine" or the "I don't like that so everyone must feel the same way" mistake. I learned this years ago when on a total lark, trying to use footage that we had no idea what to do with, we put out a title called "overweight, oversexed, and over 40". *We expected it to tank and instead it was a top 5 seller for years. We also had this club of guys that loved hairy bush that would give us crazy feedback and buy anything we had if it included bush.
