I'm a betting man and rather than giving the usual marketing spiel in this thread, I'll share my more degenerate side and give everyone my sports picks of the week. I'll be betting at Vegas and on the Internet. And I'm pretty sure I'll be right.
This weekend's big games
NBA
Chicago Bulls at Miami
Yes, the Heat did choke away a huge lead and allowed Orlando to go on a 40-9 run Thursday. That's not going to happen again as they will finally decide to play hard defense and they'll do it to Boozer and Rose. Pick: Miami by 10
Los Angeles Lakers at San Antonio
The Lakers are on a roll and they're finally playing defense but can they put together a good performance in San Antonio? The Spurs are not really in their best form this week and they'll have plenty of rest before they face the Lakers. At this point, the Lakers are in better form. Pick: Lakers by 5
NCAA Basketball
Kansas at Missouri
Missouri looked great for one half against the Jayhawks at KU, but they let it slip away quickly in their first meeting. The Jayhawks do shows signs of losing their cool and poise on defense. I predict Marcus Denmon and company to run the Jayhawks up and down the court all day. Pick: Missouri by a lot.
Duke at North Carolina
The ACC title is on the line as the resurgent Tar Heels go up against Coach K and the Blue Devils. UNC had a huge victory at Florida State where Duke was destroyed earlier in the season. Harrison Barnes is stepping up and becoming a big game player, but I think Duke will expose all of UNC's weaknesses at their house. Pick: Duke by 10
English Premier League
Liverpool vs Manchester United
Finally we get to see Liverpool's new signings together, Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez. A huge loss for United is the suspension of Vidic. He will be replaced by Wes Brown, who is too slow to keep up with Suarez and Kuyt; And he is not strong enough to handle Carroll. If Carroll plays and the Liverpool midfield can control the ball, I see a home victory for the Reds. Pick: Liverpool 2-1
Arsenal vs Sunderland
Arsenal have Barcelona in Champions League play in a few days. Sunderland have upset a giant this season (beat Chelsea, drew Manchester United). I think it's easy for Arsenal to overlook Sunderland at the Emirates, where sometimes the Gunners have been off down the stretch. Pick: Draw 2-2
Wolves vs Tottenham
Another London team with a big Champions League game in the week, Tottenham will play AC Milan. But first they have to go to the Molineaux and play Wolves, who upset Manchester United, City, Liverpool and Chelsea. I think Spurs will overlook Wolves and will play conservatively, which is not their game. Pick: Wolves 3-1
