Actually this province is old Catholic and superstitious when it comes to cats especially (they were thought to be sneaky, evil and of the devil and old folks here still feel that way about cats).
So one evening I'm leading the usual parade of flag-pole tails down to the corner store, and I come across this old lady who was usually friendly, but when she spotted my cats she jumped, brought her hands up close to her and with a really pale face asked: "Are they bad?"
I didn't laugh, I actually kinda felt sorry for her...
Actually the word she used was "
malin", which is not as bad as "Evil" but much worse than "bad" so I had to be dismissive about my cat buddies following me and tell her not to worry...
