Tired of seeing my tv sit on a stand with cables hidden but shoved behind it. Plus once the baby starts crawling, I'd rather not have her near the tv.

Definitely run cables. I'm running a
50 foot HDMI cable for the system in my bedroom. Up the wall, across the ceiling and down the wall to the TV. Installed it in the walls back in 2005 and haven't had any problems with it.
