I had a domain listed at 1K, that I paid $100 for. I did sell the domain for $850, three years later!
The domain cost me almost nothing to keep as I had gool adsense on it.

Your example is irrelevant, every single domain situation is going to be different. Just because you got it cheap, doesn't mean it is worthless. You may have gotten a good deal. So your logic is also applied to the idiots on ebay trying to get 1 million dollar for crappy domains? Some listed for sale above arent that far off. Some are priced decent but most are way way over priced and will never sell anywhere close to that.
When people put the price as high as some of the domains on that list, which are really 10x more than what i'd bet someone would be willing to pay, I think that person is either in denial or deep down really doesn't want to sell.
