We should consider ourselves lucky to have the freedom we have right now.
The only thing that has prevented the government from totally banning porn has been a handful of judges who have struck down laws like COPA. If those judges thought like Anton Scalia, we'd all be fucked.
i think about the idea that someday, someone will push an obscenity case to SCOTUS, & it will be finally overturned. But sadly i see the truth. Its consitutionality is irrelevent. All that matters is whether there are 5 republicans, or 5 democrats on the court at the time of the hearing.
right now, the web is a wild wild west. Pretty soon, the web will cease to be a medium where anyone can speak. Hollywood & the ISPs are going to create a new internet where only the ISPs control what goes over the web. When that happens, only soft porn like playboy will be allowed to stream. extreme porn & pirated content will end up ghettoized on a low bandwidth web unsuitable for viewing on HDTVs. It will be the corporations that fuck us, not the government.
