so all the footage they got outside the capsule was lost.

Hmmm you think we figured out how to send humans beings through the van allen radiation belt unharmed, through temperature extremes ranging from almost absolute zero to fri the whole capsule to a crisp if you come in at the wrong angle. We figured out how to not bounce off the earths atmosphere, we figured out how tol slingshot around the moon using gravity to conserve fuel, we over came over a million technical difficulties to get men to the moon and back alive and we didn't know the film had to be in radiation proof containers.
