Just training him to run alongside me, best result was with me holding a doggy treat in one hand suspended above him.
He needs to have some exercise running and this is just one way to do it. He loved it.
Also take him out and teaching him to sit and wait until I call him. I can go 100 meters before he moves. Then he's like a greyhound, a slow one still he tries.
Throwing a ball is also another way to exercise him, until he leaves the ball and decides it's time for me to go get it.
