Actually doing it will little money would be painful as you described. Doing it will no money will be painless. In a couple days the idea will be gone from his head as he had no money to try to actually do anything to take it from the "idea" stage other than make a post about it online.
Now if he actually had some money to blow, he could have wasted more time and money on this idea before it flopped.
