I'm sure they can. The potential problem is that now with the internet the odds are people will find out what you used to do a lot more easily and it could be a problem for your kids or potentially for your career. I have read stories about former pornstars getting fired from their jobs because of what they once did. Two cases that come to mind were a woman who did porn in her early 20 and now was in her late 30's married with two kids and was a teacher. She had been a teacher for more than 10 years and was considered a very good teacher by everyone at the school. He past was found out and she was eventually fired. Another was a woman in Texas who had a similar situation only now she was a cop and she got fired.
Last I read both were suing for wrongful termination, but I have no idea how the cases turned out.
