it's not just social media sites. why do they oppose it?

i know players like the EFF, & the inventors of the internet, dont have money as an angle. i have difficulty with arguments about the abuse of the law, all of the fears about censorship & ending the free web is speculation to me, sort of like stating traffic laws prevent the free flow of traffic.
the law seems to be responding to pressure however, since hollywood wanted this attached to some end-of-year business with no debate.
