Isn't the issue that the meat is very poor quality then soaked in ammonia to remove salmonella, ecoli, etc?
Just sounds like a horrible idea to me. If it raises the cost of a Whopper by a $1.50 to use meat not soaked in ammonia then so be it. I'm gonna take a wild guess it would taste better as well.
The reason some people are so up in arms about it is probably because most people never knew about it before. When they see the ugly truth about how their cheap burgers are made it probably makes them sick to their stomachs.
