I agree, that happens a lot and it's activism. When I was young, we were taught about how by the year 2000 the world would be destroyed by global warming, that California would be underwater. It's 2012, California is still there, and China FAR outranks us in reading, math, and science. We owe them trillions because we've become stupid compared to most developed nations, spending our time indoctrinating kids instead of educating them. At the private school I visited, kids were four to six years ahead of public school - on par with kids in China and North Korea.
