Aren't they all soft? I mean, with the exception of a very few like Beanie Sigel - and even his background is questionable, Sigel street isn't exactly the badlands - most of them are just spinning bullshit stories.
Besides, rap is evolving and progressing to a certain extent, you can only sell so many records about whips and bricks and cars and bling before people get tired of it. And that's a good thing. I think the rap nowadays isn't as hard because rap is a reflection of what's going on in society. Nowadays, I see black kids hanging with white kids, skateboarding and shooting the shit in Vans and skinny jeans and as ridiculous as some of that seems to me, it is progress.
