have to change the home/site url settings in settings (or just in mysql).
u can also add something along the lines of define('RELOCATE',1) in wp-config.php (double check that... might be wrong been a while) and it should auto update.
if u just move all the files from a subdir, the .htaccess will be wrong as well (change /subdir to /) and permalinks will be wrong until you change the home/site url as above
