I've only slightly pushed this to 4.6Ghz, Plenty of people have done 5 Ghz plus np's.

Main reason is heat (runs cooler on the bottom) and cable management. Most of the cheaper styled cases still have it at the top, but I prefer bottom mounted psu's.
