my brother rode north west 180 miles during the LAST hurricane. That area he went to got hit the hardest in the regions history. He was stuck upstate NY for a week because the entire town was pretty much under water and undrivable.
There really isnt a safe place to go on a tank of gas. If you end up picking the wrong direction- it might take quite awhile to get back...ie: losing your car.
