Maxcdn price is for a year as long as you dont go above 1TB, is $40 for a year expensive? Not really.

Maxcdn,
Amazon Cloudfront and edgecast.
Most of the other big cdn's like akamai, limelight etc is in a completely different price range and 1 year contracts.
Edgecast is out of range for most too but they have a partnership with speedyrails and some other companies which cuts the price and no contract instead you pay as you go, and cheap as well. So you register at speedyrails instead of edgecast but same quality and service.
