I have to strongly disagree with this. Gaming on the PC offers a wider array of benefits over console gaming:
Steam platform - No need to purchase actual hard copies of games or worry about scratching / losing disks.
Much much higher graphic capabilities. - New graphics cards come out all the times and new games are always pushing the limits of what PC gaming can do. Console developers have to design and limit the game based on the same graphics card the console shipped with, several years ago.
Better communication platforms - Keyboard, Ventrillo/Mumble/Skype for voice chat - much higher quality than the low quality VoIP for console.
Just the graphics alone is enough to make me never want to play console.
