I will tell you from first hand experience.
It matters nothing. You are not even the spouse in the divorce. But as long as the kid is not involved, it doesn't matter. The way the law is written is they ask the question, "does this negatively affect the kid"... if the answer is *no*, the ruling is it is irrelevant.
BTW... I bet your family member and ex never go before a judge unless one of them have some money and a die hard determination to rule out common sense, rational, and decency. Almost all cases are resolved in some form of mediation.
