Na most of these kids when they start aren't of college level when they get started most are jr high school or high school so they wouldn't have access to student versions anyway. Most of these guys already have a very good grasp on the programs well before they hit college where they could gain access to student versions.
It's just like some kids start playing the guitar at a young age, or the piano, painting or drawing, well now days some kids start doing 3d modeling & texture painting with tools like 3dsmax & photoshop. This is why I say Abobe really has nothing to lose and a lot to gain because people can get illegal versions if they want them anyway, so it wouldn't hurt to give legal access to older out dated versions.
